Dear Thathi
This is a moment I feel that I should be with you to celebrate your Birthday but I am giving priority to my education as you always wanted me to do, but while wishing you a happy birthday I want to draw attention some developments in our country.
First you are my father and a father to three sons and a loving husband, and this makes you a very successful family man, which I perceive is of great importance for any politician. A true family man is aware of all his duties and commitments towards the family which in the larger scale are similar to commitments that are expected from a leader shaped through comprehension of family values.
Secondly you are a Sinhala and a Sinhala Buddhist leader, it is a major factor that has contributed into making you a fine leader, Buddhist value system is based on principles that shape humanity. These include love, compassion, reconciliation, equality and tolerance, which has made you a leader for all Sri lankan’s irrespective of ethnicity. These values form the pillars of just government in both oriental and western philosophies of governance.
Finally, you are the national leader the country was yearning to have for a long time and you carry the hopes of a nation as the only patriotic leadership. Patriotism is a used and abused concept in the terms of Sri Lankan politics. You are a patriot but you are not a racist, patriotism means the love for all people of your country and make them believe it, as I believe.
These three factors form the foundation of Mahinda Chintanaya, and for this I salute you as your son and a Sri Lankan both which I am proud to be.
As a fellow youth and a elder brother of two, I take this occasion to draw your attention to a growing crisis in sri lankn. The levels of usage in undesirable substances as, Smoking, consumption of alcohol, banned drugs and even life style drugs by the under age, is sharply on the increase. Their participation in Night clubs as under aged youth has increased again. The youth of our tomorrow is sadly and cunningly been led away towards moral and ethical destruction. My concern is not for the adults that are into the usage of such substances, who are far more in disciplined, experienced and established in this society. My honest and sincere concern is for the under aged youth that are yet to get expose.
We must not forget your are celebrating your second anniversary of been the president of Sri Lanka. In the mean time do not forget it’s the begging of a another political year as the president. The peoples of the nation sees you as a ‘people’s man’ but I as youth and as your son sees you as ‘ a man for the people’
The same time I am concerned about political developments in the country, especially leading to the vote on the appropriation bill. Parliamentarians who agree with your path are already pledging support and aligning with you. These allegiances do come with political cost, so I urge you not to get involved in personal matters to do with them. As the forces behind you are carrying hope and faith in your leadership and I know you will never compromise this.
I wish you strength and strategic vision to guide our country towards success and prosperity. We are Sri Lankans and under your leadership I hope and wish you make all our dreams come true and I believe you can.
Happy Birthday
Budusaranai,
Loving son Namal
